Creating & Managing a Cause
Anyone can create a Cause on Giveth. Causes are permissionless, meaning users don’t need approval or prior experience. Only a clear vision and a small amount of GIV tokens is needed. Cause creators can add or remove projects at any time. This flexibility allows for dynamic curation and keeps Causes fresh, aligned, and impactful.
Launching a Cause
Step 1. Connect Wallet and click "Create a Cause"
Step 2. Provide Cause Details
- Title
- Description
- Banner Image
- Categories (max 5)
Step 3. Select Projects
A list of verified Giveth projects is displayed, with search and filter tools.
- Creators can select between 5 and 50 verified public goods projects.
- Only projects with a Polygon address and verified status are eligible.
Step 4. Deposit GIV & Confirm
A one-time launch fee is required to finalize your Cause. You can submit using your GIV on Polygon, Gnosis or Optimism.
Managing a Cause
Cause creators retain full control over their Cause even after launch. From the My Causes dashboard, they can:
- Edit Cause information
- Add or remove projects
- Deactivate the Cause, which disables new donations but continues distribution of remaining funds
